Grief and Loss

Grief is the feelings we experience due to loss. In adopted children, especially that were adopted at a young age their loss may not be clearly identifiable. Yet, their behavior can be connected to loss they have experienced. Adoption children can have secondary loss of birth mother and birth father. We strongly encourage families to start with the following resource: Impact of Adoption on Adopted Persons -Child Welfare Information Gateway. This resource guide is not an all-inclusive list, but rather a tool to help you access the information you need.
